Of course! The life death circle. One must die for there to be new life. That or death is just lazy and this is the only way to get him to work. But playing the game?o-0
I knew this would come up, but this is how I see it: Life does indeed want you dead. Do we not spend everyday trying to survive what Life throws at us? Death is just there to pick up the pieces…
All I can say is… that’s sounds kinda stupid. So in the end Death always loses?
Does the Death represents our fear of death and the need to live as long as possible?
Which is you know, kinda the way of life -> the need to survive and grow.
Never! This is the internet and If you put stuff on it then you must expect any kind of comment! Also I like MaryDeath a lot and anytime I see something bad I must speak!
Also this doesn’t deserve harsh comments, unlike: there is this awful archive and mary new look, I liked the “pupils 24/7″ look rather than pupils during close ups. Also some of the one strip stories are kinda weak, I like when Author does those longer stories.
Honestly, the idea of Death as a comforting welcomer is far more common than the idea of Death as a slavering monster. Life gives you obstacles, Death welcomes you hole when Life has given you too big an obstacle to surmount. Hell, I’ll point out that one of the big medical bugaboos of modern society, Cancer, is not death, but life out of control that happens to kill it’s host.
Life does want us dead, old life must die for new life to grow. Life probaly wants to get those lizard people it bought from Evolution off the shelf and make some room for it’s glass menagerie
So, Death must be really bad at the game because the implication is that if Death wins the person lives. Unless they just reset up the board and go again, for each major event in that person’s life. The minor events would be the moves on the board. Then they just keep playing until Life wins and that board is retired…
Or the person is reincarnated and the board is set up again?
Yeeeah. Do NOT take that offer, Mary. I don’t care if the guy looks like a sparkly cloud in a cloak, he’s probably faintly evil. Also, you might die. I’m sure there are strings attached.
I’ve only encountered this awesome comic series a while ago, and I must say I am really impressed by it. I’m very glad thst I found it, since it’s both funny and interesting at the same time.
Keep this awesome comic up, please!

Shouldn’t the tag for this one be: “how about a nice game of chess?” (wargames)
Haha, yes, it should be.
When Death loses? Typo or twist? We shall see.
When Life wins someone dies?? The person should die when Death wins, not the other way around.

Dude. Hold your horses before criticizing the authorial intent so harshly.

I, for one, prefer Mary’s “opaque” glasses.

Called it, apparently. I’m a bit surprised.
I knew it! Well, soul… life… the same? But why someone dies when Life wins?
People don’t die of death. They die of having lived.
So, Death must be really bad at the game because the implication is that if Death wins the person lives. Unless they just reset up the board and go again, for each major event in that person’s life. Why of course Life is the evil one if everytime he wins the person dies.
So what happens when Death wins?
Love chess and that would bring a whole new meaning to life as we know it.
Never the less it was a cool comic that spoke about something as relevant as the life and death circle
Regards,

“No strings attached” Yeah, not anymore, Life…
Doesn’t this contradict the previous comic with Death saying he never loses where you introduce Life playing with him as a dog?
“Thanks, but I’d rather play go”
