I think, i”m very stupid girl, cause I don”t understand, does Mary placed the figure to be sent to her room, or Death had opened the “door” a moment before and she didn”t?
My take on it is death plays to keep the souls in life’s realm and under his direction, where life plays to end their life and put them under death’s control. Along those lines.
My take on it is this: when Life wins, it finally “gets to you”. Life just takes its toll and you die, hence cometh Death. And early in series, Death states that he was the first one to ever die. He placed his pieces, played the game, and lost, and the wager was his soul, indentured to clean up Life’s pieces for all eternity.
Or just until someone new places a piece…
Love the skull on the bottom of the chess piece
I would say that was a close call
….and the death chess piece falls in Mary’s room. Will it affect her life(death?)…..only Mat can tell

Life is such a jerk
..sooo death was roped into this whole gig because he placed is rook (king? i can’t tell)????
this only leads to more questions!!
Her chess piece is in her room.
Sooo…one thing i don’t quite get. Why does the person die if “Life” wins the game? Shouldn’t it be like the other way ’round?
